April Ross

April Ross has won more than one gold medal in the Olympic Games. She is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball athletes to have achieved this feat. Ross will compete in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal, along with Alix Klineman who is a first time Olympian. Ross is determined to earn more than just her first Olympic medal. It could be Ross' final chances to secure an Olympic gold. She's still feeling confident nevertheless. If we play our best or even if we play properly, I'm sure we'll get that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. Then I will also take some luck. Ross is born the 22nd, 1982 located in Costa Mesa California. She lived with her family in Costa Mesa. When she was at Newport Harbor High School, she participated in various different sports. She was a basketball player and also ran track in addition to her indoor volleyball accomplishments as a pre-collegiate athlete. When she played in the final sport, she clearly stood out. In her time at high school, she was a middle blocker outside setter and hitter on a volleyball court, according to her college bio. She was awarded in the category of Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999, for her performance. In addition, she was awarded the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Ross and Klineman started their collaboration in the year 2017, however, Ross had been a major participant on the beach for quite a while before. In reality, she was the winner of many major events playing two different partners, one that is also the volleyball legend. She partnered up with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, as well as serving as a coach and Klineman. Together with Kessy Ross, the duo won a World Title in 2009 while competing on the international circuit. The two eventually clinched gold at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were knocked out of the gold medal by the legendary duo comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. In 2016, the pair won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. After high school and several years prior to hitting the beach as a professional Ross played for the Trojans at USC while university. Ross's time in the Trojans was awe-inspiring. In 2000, she was recognized as Pac-10 Freshman, and NCAA Freshman Of The Year. In addition, she was she was an All-American. The team also saw her help in helping the Trojans get to their first Final Four. During her sophomore season, she suffered a tremendous personal loss, yet she managed to win an All-American. Over the course of her final two seasons, she took the Trojans on a climb and won consecutive national titles. As an individual, she established herself as an all-time great winning the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross went on to study international relations at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter reach the top in the world of beach volleyball. Ross's mother Margie died in 2001, when Ross was still an USC sophomore. It was discovered that she had breast cancer. Yet, she is able to hold her lost parent near and close. Also, Margie has always been an encouragement for her at the beach and in her daily life.
